Overview

The smaller of the two "brothers" of the famous double reef is in good visibility, east of the big brother. Here there are gorgonian forests, huge overhangs and the "Shark Point" - a cleaning station for sharks.

Description

Little Brother runs from northwest to southeast at 100m long and 50m wide. To the north, Little Brother runs somewhat wedge-shaped. Its height is 11 to 12m and it is surrounded by a fringing reef that seems to literally guard it. On the southeast side, where the moorings are, the reef drops steeply down to 10m, where there is a small reef nose that turns into a slight slope. It ends with an overhang at 37m. After that, the wall drops further into the depths. There, a lagoon like wall runs from the north to the large gorgonian garden that extends from 18m to well over 40m in the east.

Hotspots

From the southeast to the north, the reef is characterized by a steep wall that runs between 25m and 40m.
It is not possible to enter this brother island. Again, rough seas are always to be expected in the spring and it is definitely not a dive site for beginners. Most dives are started and finished by Zodiac. There is a separate briefing on the Zodiac. The two brothers are located in a marine park, so there are some regulations to be observed.

The gorgonian garden

The first dive you should do comfortably from the boat to the boat and explore the southeast side. You have a good chance to meet gray and thresher sharks at the bottom of the reef nose, then you should go on to the gorgonian garden, which is between 18 and 40m. After that you go back around the eastern tip.

Shark Point

It goes with the Zodiac to the southwest side. You will be dropped in the last lagoon and should dive down as soon as possible, because the wave is hitting the western tip. There you dive in the current shadow of the reef nose towards Shark Point. If the current is strong, try not to dive to Shark Point, but stay on the reef. If you dive back on the north side, you may encounter a slight counter current, after that the current splits and you have " back wind ". Watch out for big fish!

Steep wall

This dive is variable. You can leave by Zodiac heading north. Always check the current when getting out: Again, depending on the current, either head to the reef nose or just explore south. A second good option is to dive the southern wall from the boat and let the Zodiac pick you up if necessary. But be aware: In the afternoon hours, when the light is gradually fading, the hunting season takes place on the southeast side.
